Red Alert: Stop Signing of Smart City
Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala has declared that he will go ahead with the signing of the redoubtable Smart City project in Kochi in December. There were serious allegations raised about the project from various quarters and that including the opposition. Lot of confusion prevails about the project and the dramatis personae involved. There are allegations that this is a ploy of the lobby to capture prime land in the city through nefarious means. Aired by none less than the CPM leader and Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan. IT community within and outside Kerala had also expressed their disagreements.
With the Congress lead Oommen Chandy government in Kerala having lost its people's mandate, as proved in the last parliamentary elections and the present local body elections where they were miserably rejected, they have no moral or other right to go ahead with a massive project like this. Among others the leading `Mathrubhoomi' daily had requested the Oommen Chandy government to maintain status quo and continue only as a care taker government till next elections. Since they had lost their support, not to take major decisions. Pinarayi Vijayan senior leader of the CPM has asked the Oommen Chandy government to resign from power without delay. The signing of this key project is declared in this backdrop.
Opposition Leader V S Achthanandan had categorically stated in public that this is a clever attempt to snatch land in the city in the name of generating employment. There are many questions regarding the Smart City project remaining unanswered. The Malayali community across the world working in and associated with the IT sector as also many major industrialists have raised doubts about the plan. To sign the memorandum of agreement at this stage, when the Oommen Chandy government has lost all hopes of returning to government, is a dangerous move and has to be opposed. Anyone knowing the functioning of the present government and the loop holes they create to make money and do favours to near and dear at public expense can read the writing on the wall.
That the present minority lead government of the Christian and Muslim political parties had contrived again and again to use the government apparatus for their own advantages is well known. The sale of the Kovalam Hotel at throw away prices to a Malabar based Muslim gentleman, later resold, with the covert support of the Muslim League Minister P K Kunjalikutti is an instance. That this ministry had contrived to dispossess the tribal populations of their encroached lands, despite a federal statute, to favour the Christian settlers is also known. Large areas of forests and the state land are being stolen using dubious means every day. The various ministries are being utilized for ulterior motives is no more news and the senior officers of government are being humiliated if not supporting these sinister moves. A nexus of minority officers and politicians are running the state.
That the infamous Global Investors Meet (GIM) flaunted by the same Muslim League Minister, before his exit after a series of immoral activities, was a ploy to bestow largesse on minority businessmen is a classic case now exposed. In this case again large areas of land was allotted to the stooges of the ruling parties, as stray news reports said. This was again an issue taken up by the Opposition Leader as well. Land allotted to fake companies and fake projects. It is well known in the capital that the GIM secretariat was manned exclusively by the minority community officers and politicians and many `companies' sprang up over night. `Projects' faxed to various people for submission from the secretariat. All of them given special privileges under state patronage. While the propaganda about the jobs remain the players made their kill.
Hence it is very important that the Oommen Chandy government is stopped from signing the agreement on behalf of the people of Kerala as they no more represent the people of Kerala. They have to be also advised to desist from making any commitments in the remaining days if they are not going to resign with immediate effect. They cannot be allowed to loot the state anymore and such attempts shall be taken note of very seriously. If at all the Project has to be taken up that can be done by the newly elected government. There is no emergency situation prevailing that this project has to be signed hastily by the present government who have lost the people's confidence.

Please, do not use the missionary myth of caste oppression again. Ask any peon in a modern office to see what modern untouchability is. Go and visit any Indian state to see how much the upper castes in Kerala are persecuting the lower castes. And also go and visit a Dalit area in the Christian or Muslim belts as to how much progressive they are. Enough of that. If you are not a Hindu, I suggest you mind your own business and try to deal with the discrimination and intolerance of the Church against the non-beleivers and Dalit Christians. Do you know people are dicriminated even after death (Themmadi kuzhi) and even dead bodies of Dailts are buried in a separate ground! Recently we even saw how low certain bishops could stoop in their cat-fights over the dead-body of another Churchist leader.
And the 'hardwork' you mentioning is nothing but Govt. loot with ministries of Mani, Jacob + forest loot. Of course you could also see the numerous un-employed youth(this is good otherwise they would be street-rowdies) marrying nurses abroad and taking their entire family. Ommen Chandy’s Shady Move on Smart City
It would seem that the government of Kerala headed by Omman Chandy has gone mad. Kerala’s economic prosperity and national security is undermined by several shady deals. For the present government, everything is business. Business is purely a wealth-creating instrument making its investors seriously rich. Everything is now thought of as a business of a sort. Government ministers are all “in business” these days, traveling around the world at tax payers expense, inviting unscrupulous business people, unethical business organizations and questionable corporations. Shady politicians with no ethical norms sign shady deals in windowless rooms. Government has turned our schools, hospitals, government service, and transportation and service sector into independent businesses. When the full implications of what it means to be “business like” sink in, we shall realize what a disastrous it will be. At this point it seems that the government dominated by Muslim League is engaged in several perverse negotiation with national and international organizations with questionable business practices to engage in projects in Kerala. It is reported that Kerala government has entered a contract with a Dubai based Muslim business group for a Smart City Project worth thousands of cores of rupees. The government has agreed to handover thousands of acres of precious land in sensitive part of Kochi. The question, “to whom does this business belong?” Using fabricated economic data, employment projection, government has relinquished control over the Smart City Project to the Dubai based Muslim group. All the resources of the state including ownership of assets, direction of investment, hiring, training, retention of job, the nature of service etc were placed at the disposal of the Dubai based Muslim business group. The public does not know the real nature of the deal and the hidden agenda. The government will have no operational control of the Smart City Project. The background of the sponsors is unknown. What is this company for Kerala? The answer, is ‘for itself”. Kerala is at risk. There is no beneficial consequence for the Public. The Muslim controlled Dubai Company may become rich, it does not mean the public will benefit. Since it is directed and managed by Dubai based Muslims, Hindus will be progressively cut off from the enterprise. The Chandy government claim that Dubai based company is investing in intellectual projects. It is odd. Dubai based Muslim groups are not known to be experts in intellectual works or advanced computer services.
It is reported that the government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dubai firm to construct a Mosque at the site of Smart City project. The move is being made to please the ruling Muslim League. Critics of the agreement has warned, that Dubai based terrorist groups aligned with Pakistan may smuggle sensitive electronic equipments into Kochi and use it for spying on sensitive navel installations and shipping movements. According to intelligence analysts, it will threaten India’s security, endanger our coastline, enable international terrorists to land in Kerala, and uproot several families. Omman Chandy or any of his Muslim League defenders never addressed the critics concerns.
By signing a shady deal, Omman Chandy government has erased the ethical boundary by violating the national security and economic interest of the state. Omman Chandy’s notions are misguided; business connections are wrong, commitment to the future not strong enough. Such shady schemes and questionable acts are being thought up all the time in Kerala. Please stop this finding fault with the minority communities. I am a Nair and let me ask. How are the nairs behaving to their own people, how they destroy each other, are apathic, insensitive and self seeking. Trapped in superstition, enslaved by the priests. My experience is that the others, Muslims and Christians, help when you are in crisis, nairs try to push you further down the hole. Communists are far better.
Now even if they came to this state by external subjugation what to do now, my daughter is working with a Christian institution, son studying in a Christian school, we live in an area with rich and powerful Christians. To talk of Hinduism and Nairism will see us further alienated. Perhaps ot is too late now. But try to change first, become more humane. Peace.

I am happy that my dad left Kerala and took us to Bombay..he took that step considering our career and future..though he is not a well educated man..he did a fantastic job..coz if I had continued to stay in Kerala may be I would have been another victim of the communist political gimmicks..these goondas will never let Kerala develop..

Yes, the party villages are indeed red forts. But this lady, who seems to be from the Nayar community, will not tell that. Malabar Nayars, majority, will not want to tell that they are Nayars and are in a deep rooted self denial. For historical reasons,

I just wanted to DISAGREE with this comment of a fellow blogger.
The syrian christians were actually persecuted by the Portuguese,they tried to bring the nasranis of kerala under their Roman pope.
There were many doctrinal differences between the Portuguese(who were catholics) and the syrian christians of Kerala.This led to the burning of our churches,destruction of many historical documents,manuscripts and even in the killing of our priests and bishops by the Portuguese.
In 1653, a syrian christian bishop was murdered by the Portuguese.This led a mass uproar against the portuguese and their jesuits priests in that year-known as the Coonan cross oath of 1653.
After some years of persecutions and power play by the Portuguese,about half of the syrian christian community became ready to accept papal supremacy and portuguese domination (mostly the syrian christians of cochin,thrissur,.etc).They became catholic under rome.
While another half centred around Kottayam,Pathanamthitta etc refused to yield and preserved their independent nature.They were lucky because they lived far from the coast in the interior,and away from the portuguese colonial armies' quick reach.
After the british (protestants) age,some syrian christians went into protestantism too.
So today the syrian christians of Kerala are in numerous communities.
The ones who accepted portuguese and roman supremacy are the Catholics of kerala today(3 churches-latin catholic,syro-malabar catholic,syro-malankara catholic)
The ones who boldy resisted and preserved their independence are in two main different churches:
1.Indian Orthodox church(or Malankara Orthodox Syrian church)
2.Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church
The first church is headquartered in Devalokam,Kottayam.It is the independent church of India under the Katholicos Bava of India.
The second one is also orthodox,but is guided from syria,and calls themselves jacobite.
sadly these two groups are fighting in courts today.They were one church until recently.
The Manorama,Muthoot,Oommen chandy,PP Thankachan,Jacob,etc belong to this Orthodox,Jacobite communities...(ie those who preserved their independent nature and resisted portuguese domination).
KM Mani,PC Thomas,Joseph,Francis george,Alukkas,..etc belong to the Catholic community.
The syrian christians are not a homogenous group and cannot be treated with one general comment.
Some are catholic,Orthodox,Jacobite,Marthoma..the catholics maybe the one who brought portuguese ,..not the orthodox and jacobite.(the latter actually suffered horribly under the portuguese)

Especially at a time when some christian churches are under spotlight for communal issues during tsunami relief.
This serves as a shining example of the harmony between the syrian christians(especially of central travancore) with their hindu nair brethren.

Well my dear friend, we too know that not all Syrian Christians are bad, no branding. There are indeed wonderful people. But when we take people as a group, we can't help but see the trends. An Indian soldier has no enmity to a Pakistani soldier but he has to fight. Same situation.
Now what you wrote is all recorded history, recorded during the British period, catering to Christian interests. We are trying to see what was hidden, because not many are daring to do that, Kerala is still under Christian (media, politics,education) hegemony. Where Kerala Congress is secular BJP is communal. Where minority can have undue advantages and the graceful majority has to perish.

Now there is no point in white washing the deeds. We know how they behave in pockets where they are rich and powerful. It is a time bomb ticking away. Only option is to pull out from the common resources unduly captured that there is justice, that the Hindus are not required to kill themselves. It is a collective need.

To isolate any one community for the general sickness is wrong, every one has contributed to the decay. Every one has contributed positively as well. For some to take a holier than thou attitude is also not convincing. There are also groups who run with the hare and hunt with the tiger with us.
The Syrian christians and thier links with Colonial European forces need to be examined in detail.There has as been alleged some covert links with the colonials and the local syrian christians.Maybe this will help understand the real picture.

He seemed to be giving an exhortation to his "lambs" to vote for the communist Front.Also the bishop attack case was communalised and his goonda elements took it to the streets in trivandrum.KSRTC buses were stoned durng a protest day.

The catholic churches in kerala are balancing themselves between the UDf and LDf,..to get their share mindless of who gets power.

bishops based in kochi are manipulating within the UDf with the help of KM Mani(who is currently busy acquring forest lands for his friends in iddukki)
They have also positioned PC Thomas and Joseph cleverly in no mans land,though loosely within the LDf for namessake...(PC thomas and Joseph have just merged under the advice of the Kochi Catholic Cardinal).
AK Antony the former catholic CM,seems to have grabbed Vellappally his old allepey neighbourhood friend,.and managed to make him cause troubles in Devaswon board and make accusations against Venugopal and Oommen chandy.
Oommen chandy who is an orthodox christian from kottayam, is not in the goodbooks of the catholic establishment of kerala,even thoguh he has tried to appease them.
Why so?Because the catholic establishmentn is feeling sidelined nowadays within the christian community,...with the catholic "lambs" in the ministry all ousted,except for the evergreen Mani saar.
